This is Karen Macpherson, Superintendent of Magnolia Public School. I am calling this evening to inform the community that there are some important procedural changes this year, affecting mostly our arrivals and dismissals. The details will be outlined in the letter, and will be posted on the website.

In reviewing this letter, please know that the School as a whole has been working on this for over a year.  Surveys last year sent to parents, the community, students, and teachers revealed that there were concerns surrounding our security measures and procedures. Recent department of education safety guidelines pushed us to make more informed decisions regarding our school safety in the current climate.  A committee consisting of parents, students, board members, teachers, the Magnolia boro and police was formed to organize our procedures and review our current safety measures. The letter outlines the best compromise the stakeholders could plan to make our school a safer environment. We acknowledge this is a big change, but know this is the right thing to do for our students and our community, while still keeping our small town feel and maintaining our 1 square mile of friendliness motto. With your support we look forward to working together to make our school the best it can be.

Thank you and see everyone soon!
