BOARD BRIEF

 

 

The following items were approved at the March 25, 2008 meeting of the Magnolia Board of Education

 

The mission of the Magnolia School District, in partnership with the community and staff, is to provide a safe and supportive environment which offers all students the opportunity to develop academically, socially, physically, and emotionally and to create confident, productive, life-long learners

 

Personnel

  1. Mr. Dan Carson and Mr. Paul Sorrentino to coach girl’s softball for the 2007-08 school year (this is in replacement of Jane and Tricia Williams) stipend as per contract
  2. Mr. Gene Eddy to assist as a volunteer coach for girl’s and boy’s softball
  3. Mr. Paul Sorrentino and Ms. Teressa McKinnie to attend a workshop on April 30, 2008 entitled Helping Your Students Build Self-Discipline and Self Control at a cost of $195.00
  4. Mrs. Stacey Dobleman and Mrs. Lorraine Sheilds to attend a workshop entitled Practical Literacy Strategies on April 28, 2008 at a cost of $149.00 each
  5. Ms. Susan Makoczy as a p/t speech teacher retro to March 10, 2008 at 1 day a week  until June 19, 2008 at a cost of $300.00 a day (this is covering a maternity leave)
  6. Mrs. Jennifer Campbell to attend a workshop entitled Asperger’s Disorder and Austism Diagnostics on April 29, 2008 at a cost of $149.00
  7. Mr. David Cogan to attend a workshop on April 17, 2008 entitled Practical Strategies for Working with Disruptive Students at a cost of $195.00
  8. Ms. Marion Heller to attend a seminar entitled Nonverbal Learning Disabilities in Cherry Hill, NJ on Monday, April 28, 2008 at a cost of $187.00
  9. Ms. Lori Becoskie to attend a workshop entitled Aperger’s Disorder and Autism on Tuesday, April 19, 2008 at a cost of $149.00
  10. Ms. Erin Conway and Ms. Sharon Gorczynski as substitute teachers at a cost of $80.00 a day for the remainder of the 2007-2008 school year
  11. Mr. Dave Cogan to take two summer courses entitled School Leadership Theory and Practice and School Community. Upon completion of these courses, he will make a lateral move from a BA to a BA+15. (payment as per contract)
  12. Participation in the Camden County Elementary League for the 2008-2009 school year. (Soccer, Softball, Basketball); resolution to be signed and forwarded

Class Trips

  1. The 8th grade graduation dinner dance to Shannon Caterers on Thursday, June 12, 2008 (Magnolia Board to pay for one bus)
  2. The 6th grade class trip to Port Norris NJ to sail on the A.J. Meerwald Schooner  Monday, June 2, 2008 
  3. The Kindergarten class trip to Storybook land on Friday, May 16, 2008
  4. The 1st grade class trip to Adventure Aquarium on Friday, June 6, 2008
  5. Mrs. Butler’s and Mrs. Okeson-Brandt’s class  trip to Ringling Brothers Circus at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, April 25, 2008 ( this is not a board expensed trip)
  6. The 5th grade class trip to Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Animal Refuge in Medford NJ on Friday, May 16, 2008
